Wi‑Fi Keeps Dropping? Simple Fixes

Published Nov 12, 2025 • 5 min read

1) Move the modem/router

Place it high and central, away from metal cabinets and thick brick walls. Avoid behind TVs.

2) Reduce interference

Microwaves, baby monitors and cordless phones can disrupt 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi. Try the 5GHz network for nearby rooms.

3) Update firmware

Log in to your router and check for updates. We can do this for you and set secure passwords.

4) Rename and tidy your networks

Use one clear name per band. Remove old “-ext” or duplicate networks that confuse devices.

5) Consider a mesh system

For larger houses or multi‑storey homes, mesh nodes give stable coverage in every room.

Bonus: Printer woes

Printers drop off Wi‑Fi all the time. Give them a reserved IP and reconnect via WPS or the vendor app.
